I have made a YouTube video about the process of how the pictures for the book My Storee were made, while collaborating with over 60, Perth primary school children.
You can watch the video HERE.
My Storee, written by Paul Russell, is a book about a boy with dyslexia, who loves to tell stories. However at school he doesn’t want to write as his stories keep on coming back covered with red pen. Paul based his manuscript on his own experiences of living with dyslexia.
I decided to turn illustrating this book into a bit of a research project, where I invited children with dyslexia and reading difficulties to help me enhance my visuals with their own imaginary stories. And so to bring their words to life through the pictures in this book. Because anyone can be a storyteller, regardless of their spelling or writing ability.

The project was funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, (Australia, WA) through a Cultural Development Grant.
