Let’s talk about Perth Comic Arts Festival, or as we like to call it: Pee-Caf!
Each year PCAF shares the love for sequential storytelling with Perth in an absolutely FREE, creator-focused event that’s all about making comics accessible for EVERYONE. Every festival is organised by volunteers and brings together a variety of ways in which to interact with comics and their makers. There is a MARKET HALL where one can buy all manner of comic-book wares, a variety of WORKSHOPS for all ages, a themed EXHIBITION tying sequential storytelling with other mediums, as well as TALKS, SKILL SHARING and more! It’s a time to LOUDLY celebrate comics and the community that creates and enjoys them.
I have been an organising committee member for Perth Comic Arts Festival for over three years. 2022 was our biggest event yet: spread over two days, and accommodated by the glorious Hackett Hall in the WA Museum Boola Bardip (Perth, WA). There was also a massive influx of comic-making guests from the Eastern States (of Australia). Below are some photos from this year’s event.

PLUS, I made some beautiful vinyl stickers for the occasion. The team at Rad Stickers just blew me away with the quality, speed and friendliness of the experience. All of this made me feel like a real tabling-pro!

At this stage, next year’s Perth Comic Arts Festival (2023) is penciled in for the last weekend of July, so keep the dates free and if you’d like to get involved, check out the pcaf.org.au website and socials for more info!
Till then, go forth and make comics!
